Yuri Jang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Aging and Mental Health (AMH) at the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute (FMHI). Dr. Jang received her doctoral degree in Aging Studies from the University of South Florida in 2001. After her postdoctoral training at the USF Institute on Aging and University of Georgia Gerontology Center, she joined the Department of Aging and Mental Health in 2003. Dr. Jang was awarded Minority Fellowships from the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) and the American Psychological Association (APA). Dr. Jang's areas of interest include positive adaptation in aging, health disparities, and minority mental health and service utilization. Dr. Jang has recently completed a project "Aging, Acculturation, and Health: Korean American Elders" funded by the National Institute on Aging (1R03 AG 26332-01). Her current project is on mental health literacy among minority older adults funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (1R21MH081094-01A1) and the Johnnie B. Byrd Sr. Alzheimer's Center and Research Institute.
